What Is Blogging? - The Complete Explanation!

What is blogging?
You've probably heard the word blogging hundreds of times.
But what exactly is blogging?
How does it work?
How do you start a blog?
Not in this article, but here: Create a blog
Why is it so important?
I will give you the answers to these questions in this blog.
What is a blog?
The original term of a blog is a weblog. A blog gets this name because a blog is really just a piece of text or article that is published on a website.
This piece of text is known as the word content. A blog can be about a wide variety of topics.
About interesting developments, current events, business affairs, personal matters, politics or work, but a blog can also function as a travel report or diary.
You can further subdivide your blog posts into categories. Then you help the reader to find the right texts faster.
What is the difference between a blog and a regular website?
A web text cannot be compared to a blog text. A blog consists of a large collection of up-to-date posts.
These posts are presented in chronological order, with the most recently published blog at the top.
A blog is also provided with various hyperlinks to other sources and contact is sought with the reader in an accessible manner.
As a result, with a blog there is real interactivity between the blog writer and the blog reader.
What is blogging?
Now that it is clear what a blog is, the answer to this question actually speaks for itself. Blogging is creating the content for a blog.
You can create content by filming, writing or making a photo series. Blogging is all about creating a blog that suits the target group.
Of course, that first requires you to think carefully about your target group. Without a clear view of your target group, you often reach (almost) no one.
In order to determine your target group , you must be able to answer the following questions.
Who is your target audience?
How old are they?
Are you targeting men, women, boys or girls?
What are their hobbies and interests?
What do they do in their spare time?
Blogging naturally also includes a content strategy and content calendar.
Blogging like a headless chicken doesn't work.
That means keeping track of when a new blog needs to be published and sticking to your predetermined strategy.
What is a blogger?
A blogger is the one who creates the content. This can be an individual author, but a blogger can also be part of a group blog.
In such a group blog, there are often several bloggers active who have the same interests.
Why should I blog?
There are many reasons to start blogging. There are so many bloggers and everyone has a different motive.
One blogger would like to share his or her passion with others.
The other blogger would like to earn some extra money or as an independent entrepreneur is very adept at earning money through blogs. A new group of bloggers has also emerged: the idealistic bloggers.
These are people whose goal is to inspire and raise awareness through blogs and to bring about change.
Why should I blog for business
E en blog is the new and very well working method to get visitors to your website or webshop.
A blog is therefore a very strong marketing tool. Keeping your blogs up-to-date results in more website visits.
Not only that. You also build up a good and strong expert status. You introduce the visitors to your knowledge.
This increases the confidence of the visitors.
Business blogs are not only placed on the main source (i.e. on the website or the weblog).
These blogs are also often placed on external blogs.
But why?
This marketing trick is also known as link building. It is a technique to make your website or webshop seem more important in the eyes of Google.
The consequence? Your website will be more at the top.
But what exactly do you do with link building?
You post blogs with relevant content on another website that relate to what you do or sell.
In this lap content you refer to your website once or twice via a hyperlink.
When many external websites refer to you - either through your blogs or otherwise - Google will rank your website to a higher level.
This will eventually reach a larger group of people.
What is the structure of a blog?
A very important thing about blogging is the structure.
The structure has a major influence on how your blog functions, what user experience it delivers and ultimately also what reactions it generates from the visitors.
You don't write a blog 1, 2, 3. Before you start writing, you must first choose a topic that you want to (or must) write about.
Then make a list of the most important points you want to highlight in your blog. Then make a clear sequence.
What do you want to tell first? Use key words to create subheadings. When you have this, you can start filling the paragraphs.
Come up with a catchy title. That means original, informative and short.
So. Now you know what blogging is.
